"I have been to Kalyso's multiple times in the last two months and I am finally getting around to writing a review. I frequent many of the local restaurants and pubs in the Reston area on a regular basis and I can say hands down this is by far my favorite place to go for a beer or a very nice meal.
I have had nothing but the best service. To the point that they go to extreme lengths to accommodate my friends and I on every occasion.
I particularly like the food. The greek salad is perfect, and I can't stop eating the lamb chops. (I do have to admit I have switched my favorite to the chicken parm this last week!!!!).....
As for the drink specials on a daily basis I couldn't ask for better.
To sum it up.... Location is great, food is top of the line and the servers are amazing."
"They did a really nice renovation of this restaurant. The outdoor dining is beautiful next to the lake. The food was very good and the service very friendly and prompt. It's nice to have this restaurant to go to in Lake Anne for good food and pleasant atmosphere. On our recent visit we wondered over to their lounge area and enjoyed a cocktail while listening to an acoustic act."
"Kalypso is an excellent addition to Lake Anne dining. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing the place and have an eager young wait staff and a menu gauged to please the casual as well as the more opulent diner. It's nice to have a family owned business to patronize now that Reston is full of chain restaurants!"
"Located in Reston, Va. this family-owned restaurant and bar has been a part of the local sporting scene since 1965. Kalypso welcomes sport-enthusiasts with 10 high-definition TVs. The grub served is a blend of Greek, Italian and American favorites, however, the NFL bar menu includes discounted buffalo wings, chicken quesadillas, half-priced burgers and complimentary chips and salsa. Fans join at the contemporary lounge for cocktails and sporting programming available on two large HD Flat Panel TVs behind the cocktail bar. Kalypso offers a generous giveaway for fans every weekend."
"Definitely needed to have an appetizer as I rarely get an opportunity to get Mediterranean so I went with hummus and pita to share with the table. We were impressed with the pita (warm, soft, and pillowy) as well as the quantity of the pita! It’s always annoying when restaurants don’t give you enough dippers for your dips!
For my entree, I ordered a Gyro which was excellent. My friends ordered the souvlaki (one had the entree while the other had the sandwich) and both seemed to like it. One friend also ordered the house salad and LOVED the dressing.
My friends and I definitely recommend that you check out Kalypso’s as well as Lake Anne
"
".. had the Kalypso's Benedict which was different in that it featured gyro meat. That was a pretty nice change up from the norm. The toast was a bit overdone, but not by too much. Thankfully the poached egg exhibited the perfect amount of gooeyness to take care of that. The other Greek spin on this dish was the feta cheese, but you couldn't taste any of it due to the Hollandaise sauce. The home fries that accompanied the dish were perfect in some aspects: light, delicate, sometimes crispy, and imperfect in others: some pieces tasted completely saturated with oil. It was definitely a dish I'd come back to enjoy for brunch though.
My wife commented that the Surf Panini she had was awesome and just the right amount of food. She said the bread was perfect..."
"I've been very impressed by everything I've had there. Gyro is good, not the best, but the pita bread and tzatki are superb. Pizza is the highlight for me actually.. I love love love their pizza. Great soft dough, crispy, and thin.. very similar to Joe's Pizza and Pasta in Vienna. Spicy Feta is my favorite appetizer by far."
